The Year 2018 Meets Again on the HILT Stage: Theodor Hoidekr Dances with World Show Dance Champion Veronika Blechová

HILT black light theatre Prague is once again performing regularly on its home stage in the historic centre of Prague. Since May 1, 2026, the theatre has returned to its regular programme and will perform every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 8:30 PM for the rest of the year.

Along with this return, HILT is entering a new artistic chapter. After a dramatic period in which its founder, director and principal dancer Theodor Hoidekr returned to the stage following a serious injury, a new outstanding performer has joined the company – Veronika Blechová, World Show Dance Champion from 2018.

The year 2018 carries a symbolic meaning for both artists. While Veronika Blechová achieved her world show dance title that year, HILT black light theatre Prague represented the Czech Republic at the prestigious World Theatre Olympics in India.

Now, these two artistic journeys have met on one stage.

For Veronika Blechová, joining HILT also means entering a completely new theatrical environment. Black light theatre works with darkness, precisely controlled light, UV effects and modern projections that create their own visual world. A dancer does not stand in a traditionally lit stage space here, but must learn to perceive the stage differently – through rhythm, partner work, space and details that often remain invisible to the audience.

Although Veronika Blechová had never performed on a black light theatre stage before, her precision, attention to detail and professional dance experience immediately connected with HILT’s poetic visual language. Her first performance alongside Theodor Hoidekr showed not only the company’s new energy, but also the power of combining contemporary show dance with the traditional Czech art of black light theatre in a modern form.

“Veronika brought exactly what black light theatre needs – technique, sensitivity, humility and the desire to work. After the past difficult months, her arrival is a huge personal and artistic encouragement for me,” says Theodor Hoidekr.

HILT black light theatre Prague has long presented Czech black light theatre to both local and international audiences. The company has recently been working with new projections and a more modern visual concept of the show, moving the classic principles of black light theatre towards a contemporary theatrical experience.

The first joint performance of Theodor Hoidekr and Veronika Blechová therefore symbolically opens the next chapter of HILT – a chapter of return, new energy and the meeting of experience with exceptional dance quality.
